The Inner Life

Christ came that men might have more abundant life than they had ever known before. No man has ever known from any other source a life so sweet and rich and full as that which comes to him whose life is “hid with Christ in God” and who sups daily with Jesus at the head of the table of his heart. How beautifully James McLeod characterizes the richness of such fellowship:
Purer than the purest fountain,
Wider than the widest sea,
Sweeter than the sweetest music,
Is God’s love in Christ to me.
Why love me ?
I do not know;
I only know
That nothing less than love divine
Could save this sinful soul of mine.
