My Vacation

I love to sit beside the sea
And think of Jesus of Galilee.
How on a pillow in a boat He slept,
And how the waves the boat overswept.
His, “Peace, be still,” brought the calm,
Soothing the storm like a balm.
I see the boats with their nets stretched out,
And watch them slowly move about
Making a living from the sea
As the apostles did on Galilee.
I think of them fishing all the night,
And catching nothing before daylight.
Then Jesus told them where to cast
To get their nets filled up at last.
And now I take another look
To see Jesus on the shore—a cook.
A charcoal fire He had made
To cook some fish, and then He bade
His friend to come and dine
On fish and bread, a meal so fine.
I sit and think and “drink it in,”
And hope soon to return again!
