“A Building of God”

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens (2 Cor. 5:1).

Death is mysterious and awful to man naturally. Hence it is feared, under the influence of natural religion, all the world, over, except where even natural religion is put aside by some attractive error. The religion of our Bibles recognizes its solemnity, but removes the terror, and shows how mortality is swallowed up of life. The disciple of Christ passes from death unto life. It is not merely that there is a Father’s house above, but the spirit enters into it in a state of perfection never reached on earth. The soul, absent from the body, is at home with the Lord.
