A Testimony of Love

Baron Von Hugel tells the story of what happened during a violent earthquake in the Roman Campagna. It was a scene of terror and death, where the devastations of nature were made more terrible by the panic of the people. Amid the wreckage, however, moved a secular priest, with two infants, one on each arm, and wheresoever he went he brought order and faith and hope into that confusion and despair. That, also, was a demonstration of love’s quiet manner. Its ministry is felt rather than heard.
